Master Curriculum

Learning in the Law Study Program of the Master’s Program at PARAHYANGAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY (UNPAR) is conducted based on the Semester Credit System. This system uses credit units to measure the academic load for one semester for lecturers, students, and program administrators. Students plan the completion of the program according to their individual abilities, both academic abilities and availability of time and funds.

The following is an explanation of several terms related to the Semester Credit System in the UNPAR Postgraduate Program:

  • A semester is a unit of time consisting of 14 weeks of lectures or other scheduled activities, along with other accompanying activities, including two to three weeks of assessment activities.
  • The Semester Credit System (SKS) is an educational system that uses semester credit units (SKS) to express student study load, faculty workload, learning experience, and program implementation load.
  • Semester Credit Units (SKS) are a measure of learning experience gained during one semester through scheduled activities per week consisting of one hour of lectures, or two hours of practicum, or four hours of field work, each accompanied by approximately one to two hours of structured activities and approximately one to two hours of independent activities.

To be declared a graduate of the Master of Law Program (PS MIH), a student must have passed all compulsory courses (general and concentration courses) and a number of elective courses with a total weight of 54 credits. Furthermore, based on existing regulations, the thesis examination as a capstone course may only be conducted if the student’s Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) reaches a minimum of 2.75.

Within the MIH Program curriculum, three concentrations or fields of study are provided:

  • Economic and Business Law
  • Law and Public Policy

All courses offered in the Master of Law Program of the Faculty of Law UNPAR are classified into three groups:

  1. General Compulsory Courses, consisting of six courses including the thesis.
  2. Concentration Compulsory Courses, consisting of four (or more) courses.
  3. Elective Courses, consisting of various alternative courses. In this case, students are required to take/select several courses according to their interests.

Courses are offered in either odd or even semesters. Research activities and thesis writing as graduation requirements for the Master of Law Program may be taken in both odd and even semesters.
