In addition to student activities carried out by the Law Study Program Student Association (HMPSIH), FH UNPAR also has four law-specific student organizations commonly referred to as Independent Legal Institutions (LIH).
Forward 198
FORWARD 198 is one of the student activity communities at the UNPAR Faculty of Law, established in 2010. FORWARD 198’s activities focus on legal writing, including the drafting of legislation, business contracts, scientific papers, and legal memoranda. As a community, FORWARD 198 trains each of its members to develop their legal writing skills. In terms of developing these legal writing skills, this is done in several ways, including participating in various external competitions organized by universities in Indonesia and government institutions such as the People’s Consultative Assembly, holding internal competitions among FORWARD 198 members, and conducting training. In addition to developing their members’ skills in the field of legal writing, members are also taught presentation techniques.
KMPSN
The National Moot Court Student Community (also known as KMPSN) is one of the student activity communities at the UNPAR Faculty of Law that focuses on national courts. KMPSN activities basically consist of organizing KMPSN, holding study groups, holding moot court competitions, and participating in national moot court competitions held by universities in Indonesia. KMPSN is a learning platform for students who wish to deepen their understanding of the national judiciary and related laws. Furthermore, KMPSN guides students to think critically and legally, as well as train them in practical skills like professional legal practitioners. Additionally, KMPSN is also a forum for students who want to gain experience in organizing. KMPSN is the perfect place for students who aspire to become judges, prosecutors, lawyers, notaries, police officers, legal consultants, and other legal professions.
PILS
PILS is an Independent Legal Institution (LIH) at FH UNPAR that specializes in public and private international law. PILS was established as a forum for FH UNPAR students to study and apply international law in various international moot court competitions. By competing with PILS, UNPAR Faculty of Law students receive guidance from international legal practitioners, faculty advisors, and PILS alumni themselves. Since PILS was founded in 2005, PILS members have represented Indonesia in various international moot court competitions, including: Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Washington, D.C., United States); Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vienna and Hong Kong); Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition (Tokyo, Japan); and International Criminal Court Moot (The Hague, Netherlands). In addition to excelling in international moot court competitions, PILS members also study international legal issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict, the Taliban and human rights issues, international legal protection for women, and issues in the field of private law such as the use of arbitration law as arbitration procedure law. PLDC
The Parahyangan Law Debate Community is a student activity community within the Faculty of Law. PLDC aims to be a community that brings prestige to UNPAR in general and the Faculty of Law in particular, serves as a means to shape students with integrity and excellence, fosters an atmosphere where students dare to express their opinions and take responsibility for them, and has a positive impact on fellow students, the faculty, and the alma mater. The objectives of PLDC are to enhance the abilities and potential of each member, provide new insights to every member, and open discussion forums for students both within PLDC and in open forums -open discussion forums, preparing every student who will represent UNPAR, especially FH UNPAR, in every debate competition, training students’ abilities in making arguments and also in taking responsibility for them, as well as instilling values of honesty and upholding the values of justice in every student in carrying out every activity both inside and outside PLDC. In addition to the four LIHs above, there is an additional organization consisting of UNPAR Faculty of Law students but coordinated by UNPAR Faculty of Law lecturers who are tasked with recording criminal corruption trials at the Bandung Corruption Court.
Team Court Monitoring KPK – FH UNPAR
The KPK – FH UNPAR Court Monitoring Team was formed through a collaboration between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of the Republic of Indonesia and Parahyangan Catholic University since 2010 to record corruption cases at the Corruption Court in the District Court in each provincial capital. Specifically for West Java, the Faculty of Law of Parahyangan Catholic University has been entrusted to be a cooperation partner of the KPK. The KPK – FH UNPAR Court Monitoring Team has the task of recording Corruption Crimes in the Corruption Court at the Bandung Class IA District Court and reporting the results of the recordings to the KPK. In addition to recording, the KPK – FH UNPAR Court Monitoring Team is tasked with creating a document containing legal facts and trial facts, as well as an analysis of the conformity between the trial process and the applicable Criminal Procedure Law. The recordings of each trial will be submitted directly to the KPK, and the resulting documents will be submitted to the KPK through an application owned by the KPK.
